A Winter Runaway is an 8,000-word short story set near Paxton, the same fictional town in northeastern Ontario that appears in the novel, The Binbrook Caucus.

When high-school student Chaco Geller vanishes during a blizzard on his father's stolen Ski-Doo, teacher and coach, Donald Cameron, teams up with rookie constable, Orien Sclater, to investigate. Neither is prepared for the horrifying truths at the heart of Chaco's disappearance.
